A number of requests have been received asking that we take some of the issues raised to a more detailed level. In particular, the question of the Subway service being extended to provide later operating hours at the weekend is important to a number of visitors. We have therefore compiled a short survey to gauge the demand for such a service enhancement and would appreciate you taking a few minutes to let us know your views.

Should the Subway operate a late night service?

(and would you pay for this?)

There is some demand for the late night operation of Glasgow Subway. We suggest an extended service until 1.00am on Fri/Sat and Sat/Sun with an additional evening service on Sunday until 11.00pm. Should this extra service be paid for by increased ticket charges?

1. Should Glasgow Subway operate a late night service?
Yes - at the weekend until 1.00am as suggested by thgRAIL
Yes - at the weekend but no extra ticket costs
Yes - all week and increased ticket costs
Yes - all week but no increased ticket costs
No - the existing service is fine
No - but the existing Nightrider bus service should continue
Other

2. The cost of an additional weekend late and Sunday evening service is estimated to be somewhere in the region of £750,000 (ignoring any increase in patronage during these times). This equates to about 7p on the average ticket price. Would you be willing to pay the extra for the additional service?
Yes
Yes - but charge (£2.00) for travelling late to offset the cost
No - the fares are already too high
Other

3. Much more could be done to improve the Subway by introducing a much higher ticket charge (e.g. £1.50) for the casual traveller but discounting regular users to the present level. Would you support such a scheme?
Yes
Yes - but a new level of fares should be used for part of a journey
No - this would penalise visitors
No - I don't trust the SPT to spend the additional revenue
Other

4. Smart card technology is available to make the whole ticketing process easier. For example shops could give loyalty points on your Smart Ticket to repay your Subway fare. Would you support such a scheme?
Yes
Yes - but the Smart Ticket should be used for buses too.
No - I'd rather keep any loyalty rewards to spend as I choose
No - shops would simply increase their prices to cover this cost
